Hey there- I got a heads up from Chester that a fellow driver was having a hard time with this whole NS thing. I read your post from yesterday... And I get where you're coming from. It's so hard to change years of eating habits. I started NS at 275 lbs. That's not 450- I know, but it was a dangerous weight for me. Pre-diabetis, high bp and cholesterol- I started NS and lost 50 lbs FAST... Following the plan. It was easy for me at first, because it was all new! (I did this in a truck too)
after the newness wore off, I started back into my old ways- 20 lbs gained back and started to feel terrible again. (I had been on NS for less than a week and had started feeling AWESOME, because you are properly fueling your body)
I won't lie- it's not all a bed of roses, I had to work at staying on plan. Being a trucker- going into the truck stops with the candy aisles, chicken fried steak serving restaurants and fast food is HARD. You have to use mega-will power to pass it all by. But seriously...once you are on plan for a week, (perfectly on plan) you'll feel SO MUCH BETTER- you won't be as tempted by the bad things.
I have been back on my plan again- and am down 5 lbs. It needs to be more, because I am not anywhere near my goal, but I have realized that NS works well, and it is the best way I have found to lose weight on the road.
Do you have a fridge in the truck? If not, I recommend one. It's worth the cost. Stock it with bags of salad, veggies, yogurt... Keep bottled water in the truck. When you stop driving for the night, take a walk- weather permitting. And I know that she does walking videos for women, bit I have found thAt there is enough room in the truck to do Leslie Sansone walk-at-home videos. Do you have a tv/DVD player? Let me know what kind of set-up you have. I have an extra video that NS sent me. Like I said, it's the women's walk, but it works FABULOUSLY in the truck, and you can work your way up...since we aren't in that great of shape to start with!
Take care! Jessica
