Week #5 with lots of unhappiness

I GAINED weight this week.  1 whole pound.  I stayed on program and if anything ate less then I was supposed to.  How can you gain weight when you are eating less then 1100 calories a day????  I spent a lot of money to gain weight.  And I could understand if I went out and had some pizza or fast food or something.  This is quite a set back for me.  I was so close to hitting onederland and now I have to lose 2 pounds again to make it instead of the one I thought for sure I could lose this week.  Well thanks for listening to me vent.  Not sure what to do now.

Hey silly, we're girls, our hormones make us fluctuate a pound or 2 of water weight at certain times of the month.  You probably didn't gain at all.  But when this happens I lift weights and within a couple days I've lost the extra pound, and another one too.

Marilene, if you are eating less than 1100 calories a day, they your body making be reacting to your lack of calories.  Your body may think in terms of starvation recognizing that it is getting less than the required caloric intake.  Therefore it may be turning your foods to fat for storage.  You shoud be following the program to a tee  1300 calories a day should be your goal and it is ok to go over.  3500 calories equal 1 pound. You also be retaining water.

Weight fluctuates.  Drink some extra water and it will probably be gone by tommorrow.  Hormones, stresss, etc.. all cause women to gain weight.  This one is silly I actually can weigh up to three pounds more if I don't sleep enough.  Guess it stresses my body too much.  You are doing great, don't go down that road of it doesn't work.  cheri

Like DMAC57 said, you've GOT to eat all the foods in order to lose weight.  Yeah, sounds crazy huh?  Eat more to lose more??  But the system works.  Some days I will switch dinner for my lunch and vice versa.  And by all means, drink that water.  Flush out those fatty cells!!  Best of luck to you Marilene!!  ~Nancy~

I used to teach for WW years ago.  I noticed that when members gained, it was usually because they munched and forgot to add those amounts, ate salty foods that caused fluid retention, it was almost that time of the month, or perhaps they had been working out and had gained muscle (though they might have gained, clothes fit looser).  Drinking lots of water usually helps.  Changing how many calories you eat each day by a little bit also seems to help.  So does just moving around a little bit and doing a few stretches to get that body going.  My favorite is to add a lot more NON starchy veggies to my food to get fiber moving the food out of my body.  Good luck!

Swedish8Fish posted a link to a good article on the message board from bobybuilding.com on how people can fail to lose weight because of calorie restriction.  http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/core_march_8.htm

Ok...thanks everyone.  I am ready to get back on track.  I really does make sense to eat more.  My body is probably just storing.  That article was very interesting and fit me to a tee.  Thanks to you all.

Hi Marilene,
I know its hard not to feel discouraged but if you follow program you probably did not gain  a pound of fat.  Sometimes are bodies just don't cooperate with the scale, stick with it and you will see that it will go down probably by next weigh in.  Last week for some reason I only lost 1 pd this week I think I might lose 3, doing the same thing as last week.  Who knows why our bodies do what they do....  Remember you gotta be in this for the long run, not necessarily for immediate results.  Have a great week.  Pam

Hi Marlene2!  I'm esydsit.  I just went from 300 into twoderville today.  299 lbs.  I know how you feel about reaching that 100 lb mark.  I thought I would never see the scale go under 300 lbs.  I looked every day.  It would go up a lb, then down 1/10th of a lb.  It took over a week, but the nasty lb finally went away.  On the 100+ blog yesterday I asked everyone to comment on how they get through their plateau's and they had a lot of ideas.  Most said they mix up the food.  Whatever you do, just stick with it.   Good Luck

WOW...what GREAT comments!!!  I'm right there with you....I haven't even gotten on the scale I've gotten so discouraged not seeing the numbers fall .....
Anyway...just wanted to say Hang in there...there's a lot of us going thru the same thing..so it must not be anything personal right??  and remember...those that have lost LOTS of weight in ONE year.....they ALL had this SAME thing happen!  so it must be a part of normal weight loss!!!!

(Thats my story and I'm sticking to it)!!! :)_
