getting discouraged.....
Ok, 4 weeks and only lost 7 pounds?? It is almost not worth it for me to continue. I am thinking about getting my thyroid checked as my hair has been falling out for about 6 months or so. I am so upset about this, I have been working so hard at this diet, now after this morning's weigh in I am ready to quit!!!

A healthy weight loss for any balanced diet is about 1-2 pounds per week, so you're right on track. Those 7 pounds are GONE, and you're only 3 pounds shy of hitting your first 10-pound loss!!

If you're staying on-plan 100%, then you're journaling what you eat and your exercise each day. Call a NS Counselor and review what you've been doing for the past four weeks. Your Counselor will tailor the program just for you. You now have a baseline of data that shows how your body reacts to changes in eating and exercise habits, and that is so invaluable.

If you're trying to stay 100%, but not really doing it, then a great blogger suggestion I've read is to commit to staying 100% for 3 days, then see how you feel.

Four weeks is a tough point for many dieters (me, too!!). Now is the time to review the past 4 weeks of the NS Mindset and Daily Dose, read through the NS Guide again including the food lists, go back to measuring everything to ensure you're eating enough, and always drink at least 64oz of water each day. If you haven't taken your measurements, you should definitely do so now.

Rededicate, recommit, revitalize! Stick with it, and you'll be one of the inspirational stories we read so often on the blogs and discussion boards.

Hang in there; it's worth it!

This is just my 2nd day on NS, but I can feel your pain as I have been there before on other diets. PLEASE don't give up.....you are almost on the dot for what they say is a healthy amount to loose each week....2 lbs. a week. I know you can get past this feeling of discouragement....call and talk to someone and let them help you streamline your program. I am rooting for you!!!

I understand why you are discouraged. I also did not have that big number that many have during the first few weeks. I am now on week 11. I have lost 17.6 lbs. My lbs/week average is 1.6. I'm ok with this. What I did that helped was to make a chart with my projected weight as I continue to lose at a steady pace. I'm very happy with what those numbers will be.

I think part of your frustration is that with 7lbs gone, you are probably not feeling any huge difference in your clothing yet. Give it 10 more lbs. Today I am wearing clothes that I haven't worn in a year. I've already received 2 compliments and I've only been at work for about 25 minutes.

Definitely check with your doctor if you feel like you are having any medical issues, but even if your loss slows to 1 lb/week, this time next year you will be 50 lbs lighter.

Hang in there. I know this works. I first tried NS 3 years ago. I easily lost 40lbs. I think I lost them too easily and did not learn what I needed to change my bad habits. This time I am losing slower, but I've made it more of a lifestyle than a diet. I'm working this program so I do not feel deprived. I really feel like I can continue this and will not revert back to old habits this time around.

At 4 weeks in, I had only lost 5 pounds. It is only discouraging because you see so many others losing really fast...but slower losers make it too. You just cannot give up! I made goal today! My losing got a lot faster after week 8. I don't know why, it just did. Hang in there.

Another thing to remember is that the weight didn't come on in just 4 weeks...it takes time to gain and a little longer to lose. You've stopped the forward momentum of gaining and are starting to back up by losing. You're doing great! Dottie and I travelled along at the same pace and we made goal the same week! We were very slow losers BUT as you lose the weight slowly, your skin has time to make adjustments so it doesn't hang as badly as it does when someone loses weight too fast. You really are doing very well....patience....good luck...dj

Don't give up yet. I was getting discouraged too.I am going on 12 weeks and have lost 16 pounds, which averages out to about 1.33 per week. I was thinking about quiting after the first few weeks but I am glad I stuck with it. I am really starting to see changes in my body and I am able to wear some of my smaller sized clothes. Then yesterday someone at work finally noticed that I was losing weight which has really given me a boost. Hang in there :)

On October 22nd I will have been on NS for 4 weeks as well and I'm down 8 pounds...pretty close to your weight loss. I'm excited about that...definitely don't think it's not worth it. I have felt a major change in my life thus far. The way I look at it is I'm 8 pounds lighter. Had I not stuck to NS I probably would be 8 pounds heavier by now. You should be so proud of yourself right now! We're all proud of you and we hope you don't quit!! Just try mixing things up a little bit. Try eating your "fat" and your dessert for lunch instead of dinner. That way you have more of a chance to get those calories off and have fewer calories for dinner. I tried doing that just this week and alreadey I've lost 4 pounds! Whatever you do...don't give up! We are all here for you!! :o)
