Good morning to all NS. The past 2 days has taken a toll on me. I work on Fort Hood at a clinic as a Medical Lab Tech for the Army as a civilian. The clinic I work at is approximately half a mile from where the shooting took place. I was at work when the shooting took place, I remained at work late that night. I got some sleep and went back to work early the next morning. This is the first time since Thursday that I have had some time to think.
What happened on Thursday has shook me to the core. We lose too many of our soldiers and civilians in Iraq, which is where my husband is, and now we are losing them here. As a military spouse, an army veteran, and a civil service employee I am deeply saddened and very upset. This "soldier" one of our own "leaders" never even saw combat, never had to go through what my husband and his soldiers see every day. What right did he have to decide that those at the SRC center shouldn't go to Iraq or Afghan just because he was too much of a coward to go himself.
The unit my husband is assigned to, 2/8 Cav, lost one of their soldiers, Specialist Hunt. I say his name because if you didn't know anyone that was affected by this, you do now. He left behind a wife and his parents.
If nothing will jolt you into action to accomplish all that you want in life and to tell all those around you that you love them everyday the horrific incident here at Fort Hood better have.
Keep all those that lost their lives, all those that were injured, all the family members, all the friends, and the Fort Hood community in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you.
