Day 9- Got back on the metaphorical horse
This summer I was so committed to running. I actually enjoy it. I found a training program and trained 4 days a week and ran my first half marathon on August 29. Unfortunately.... I started school. And I lost my motivation because something else always seemed more important. I'm a member of the running club at my university, but they only meet once a week which happens to be Wednesdays. I haven't been going as often because I can't keep up with them. To be honest, I probably never will be able to since they are so freaking fast, but I couldn't handle the mileage anymore. The scheduled run today was 3.75 miles. I knew I wouldn't make it, but I showed up and ran 1.6 before I turned around to head home. Hey, its better than nothing!

I had a pretty on plan day. Maybe I slipped in a couple extras that I shouldn't have, but I figure, if a spoonful of peanut butter here or there will keep me in the metaphorical wagon, I'm not going to sweat it. I made chili for dinner and stuffed it in a green pepper. Delicious. Highly recommend.

That's all for now folks. Stay strong.

I know what you mean. I was mountain biking 5-6 days a week this summer, but was having a hard time fitting in any workouts since school started (i'm a teacher). Last night I decided to try an early morning workout at the gym. I got there at 5am and felt great the whole day. I'm heading back tomorrow morning. Just find a way to fit it into your schedule and you will do fine.

Your post inspires me once again to STAY WITH IT....I started running August 22 and it feels great. I even got a treadmill so I can run indoors (YUCK) during the worst winter days, since I live in Minnesota.

I'm 44 and amazed that I was actually ABLE to run over 2 miles by the time I "dared" to try it....I had been doing plenty of cardio but had felt it would be impossible to run at 44 years and 52 lbs overweight. I've lost 35 of those lbs since May, and started the running after much encouragement from a couple of friends who run and my son Mike the soldier, who is a perfect physical specimen and can run MILES with 70-lb gear on!!!!

I hope you stick with it...run alone if you are not liking the running club! I run alone and it is almost like a meditation quite a bit of the time, especially on a longer (3.5-mile) run, once I get into "the zone"...

Have a great day!

Mmmmm....I'm going to try stuffing the chili into a pepper....did you bake it?
