Day 55

Well I am one week away from my 2 month mark.  I feel awesome.  I weighed in today, and after 2 weeks at the same weight, I'm down 2 pounds.  216!.  I cannot wait to hit onederland!
I know that is probably a couple months away, but still... to be under 200 pounds... Idon't remember the last time I was that weight... HS? Maybe for a day my freshman year in college?

It's a beautiful day here in MA... its def feeling more and more like spring every day.  I find myself looking forward to walking outside... I would like to be able to walk for a solid 30 minutes atr a good rate, but right now i'm at about 20.  I'm also looking forward to when we move in June, because there is more "room" to walk without doing the same laps around the neighborhood (I live in a dead-end neighborhood, off a very busy roadway with no sidewalks) We're we're moving is a nice downtown area, and theres a school across the street, so there'll be plenty of room to roam. Yay!

I'm hoping that in a week or 2 i'll feel more comfrtable with the idea of going shopping for clothes.  I'm not quite ready yet, because i'm afraid that the smaller size still won't fit right.  I've always had trouble with clothes since I'm short, and stores think that if you're a size 20, you must be 6 feet tall...  i very much look forward to being able to shop pettites again.  Even thr plus size "short" is too long.

And one more thing... how come i get my period the DAY of my weigh in... i feel so bloated!  Im down 2 pounds... i want to feel skinny!!! :-p

Plateaus really stink, but I look at it as a challenge!  "fat" me wants "skinny" me to give up, but I keep going and "fat" me always says chicken first!!  Never give up!  Congrats of the 2 pounds!

I can't remember the last time I was below the 200 mark, but I hope to be there next week.  I'm happy with NS too, and while I've always been a fat girl, I hope that in a few more months I will say good-bye to plus sizes for good!  Good luck with your goal!

Congratulations, you are doing a great job.  I just walked for 1 hour, it's beautiful here today in VA, we might hit the 80 mark. I too, am a "shorty" and at 5' 1" finding clothes, even petites are long on me.  My hubby is 6' 6" so we are quite a pair!  At our wedding, I wore my "big girl shoes" (spike heels) and I stood on the altar steps while he stood on the floor for pictures so we didn't look too out of porportion.
Keep walking, I love reading your posts.

Congratulations on your  lost.
The drinking 8 glasses of water a day has been so hard for me. I keep using those 5 calorie flavor packets. I don't know if it good for you or not. I also do not eat  my veggies alot. Which is really bad because it causes my calories to be under :( . But I realize that I am going thru a process of relearning the correct way to eat. And that takes time. It took me 28 yrs to get here hopefully it will not take that long to fix it. :) Good luck to all the people trying to better themselves.

You're doing awesome!  I started my program 13 months ago and am now down from 230 to 167, almost to my goal.  Don't be discouraged by plateaus; I've learned to love mine because that's when my body catches up to the weight loss.  During the plateaus is when I shrink, sometimes into the next size down!  If you can, try buying 1 article of clothing in a size smaller (I recommend a t-shirt because they aren't expensive) to try on whenever you hit a plateau.  You'll be pleasantly surprized when all of a sudden, it fits!

Also, when dealing with temptations, try to remember, "Nothing tastes as good as thinner feels."  But, don't beat yourself up if you do find yourself taking a taste of something extra.  The key is to get right back on program immediately.  You will succeed and I look forward to reading more about your success!

Katie - I am so excited for you.  You will reach your goals and I know that because I hear the burning desire in your words and you're on a program that really does work!!  You might as well start mentally preparing for your" hot" looking days. I've found thinning down is not just about our body shrinking it's also such a differen't mental/emotional experience. If 2 pounds in 2 weeks seems slow it's actually perfect for your body at this moment because of everything thats happening inside and out.  Even though some weeks are bigger drops than others it's all going in the right direction.  I like to visualize every pound I loose is a pound I will never see again.  NS changes lives.  God Bless !!!

Hi Katie,
I am new to NS, I am only on my second week. You are a great inspiration! I love reading about success stories! I too was on WW for a year and I didn't have any success with that, but I can tell you I had a great weightloss my first week, 12 Lbs! Yes, 12 lbs, I didn't think that was possible, I weighed myself four times just to make sure I was reading the scale right. But enough about me. I looked forward to reading about your success now and in the future! Keep staying positive!

"Nothing tastes as good as thinner feels."    Love that!  Going to make a little note card for work and home that says just that!

I just ordered my food yesterday.  A friend who quit smoking and gained a lot of weight since, asked her doc what type of diet is good for her, and he suggested NS.  Well, that was all I needed to hear.  I just gave all of my small sizes to a woman friend at work--from size 4 to 10.  I am now not certain a 14 is going to be what I'm wearing  in my closet unless I get real and get out of this "I don't care"  slump.  It's time...been through some stuff, but I'm "over it."  Now---time to get cute again and feel good about myself.  I will be 48 this year...my year to get it going on again.

Good luck all.  Reading your stories is great-- I'm rooting for ya--and hope to hear a lot more and tell you about my own trials!

Sounds like we are all in the same boat.  I was a FAT Girl all through high school and always think of myself that way too.  Funny when I look back at pictures....I really wasn't FAT.  I actually lost back to my goal about 14 years ago.  Then a few years after maintaining close....I quit smoking and gave myself approval to GEt FAT again.  I've been on NS three weeks and am starting to struggle.13.5 #'s gone....14.5 pounds to onderland.  The weather in Wisconsin is getting really nice, so exercise should be more fun.  But had two grandkids this weekend and their treats looked sooooo  good.  We need to be each others strength.....

Do try at least  one or two items of clothes.   Even my super tight waist band is loosening a little and it makes you feel so good.

You are doing so great - and I love your new pic with your red bear!

The weather has been getting warmer and warmer down here in Virginia - we had a beautiful Saturday, followed up by a rainy Sunday - and today is looking kinda dreary - but if I have to be inside at work anyway - let it pour all day if it wants too!

I recently had a fall and had to be flat on my back for over a week in bed, plus taking a lot of vicodin (I was taking it for pain, not for fun as Gnarlygrrr), so I gained back about 5 pounds of what I had lost - I lost 3 of them last week, and am working on losing that last two pounds again this week and getting back on schedule.

I went shopping for new clothes before I fell and I actually heard the phrase I had been praying for - the sales lady asking me "Can I bring you a smaller size?" - and I could say YES!  Sizes 3X and 22-24-26 are now a thing of the past.  I fit into a size 18 and while according to the world of designers I still should be shopping in the tent section of Sears, I was quite happy with my new purchases.  Everything I got came from the clearance racks at Avenue and I now have two pair of capri's, two pair of dress slacks and three new tops - that FIT!!! and all for under $80.  Even if these clothes only fit me for a couple of months (thank God for elastic waist) - it was so worth the money to feel that I actually look good in a size 18.  I haven't been this small since my daughter was born, and she will be 22 in August.

Treat yourself - you deserve a reward for all your hard work, and you should feel good about buying a smaller size.  Ok, you have not reached your ultimate goal, but you should reward yourself at each small goal you achieve.  I set 20 pound marks for myself - and then I buy myself something for being good.  I have 7 more pounds and I am going to buy myself a purse I have been wanting for ages - it cost $54 - but it is leather, and will never go out of style and will never get to tight for me to carry.

So treat yourself and reward your hard work - and stop thinking of yourself as FAT - you are a beautiful person who just happens to have a body-in-progress.

Keep working the NS plan and have a great week in MA - I love the  Braintree area  (I worked up there for about 6 months back in the early 70s - I lovingly refered to it as my time in Dumbush - LOL).

To DMcNaples:

I just ordered my first order of NS today!  I'm so looking forward to getting the meals.  I, too, am 48. My 30 year class reunion is coming up at the end of June and I DON'T WANT TO BE FAT!  I am a shorty-4' 10 3/4" tall.  Every pound on me looks like 5 on an average height person.  I am the heaviest I have been in about 2 1/2 years. I was done to 128 last August and suddenly put on 15 pounds very rapidly. About a month ago I started gaining about a pound per week and  I am now up to 148.4!  That is 20 pounds heavier than a mere 9 months ago!  I have been miserable with this extra weight.  I have been doing some major stress-related eating.  Long story (ies), but I have been through A LOT in the last two years.  I lost my dad, found out my husband was cheating, tried to repair the marriage, started a two-year college and stressed if I made less than 100%, started a one-year internship to get my hearing healthcare license, finally divorced, started and ended another relationship (with a man I dated 19 years ago when I was fresh out of Navy bootcamp), moved FIVE times, had my son move in with me, had two grandchildren move in with me for a short time due to some problems with their mother, had the company I worked for sold (and not finding out until AFTER the sale was complete), and a few other little life experiences. It has been a roller coaster ride and I forgot to buckle my seatbelt!  My health and weight have suffered, but I am DETERMINED to re-gain control of my health, weight, and life!  I WILL SURVIVE--HEY, HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!  Good luck to everyone!

I hit my 20 pound mark today and I'm so excited!!! I'm at 231 and though 199 feels a long way off I know I can do it by just keeping my focus on that 'next ten'. Now I'm close to the 220's and after starting at 251 that seemed impossible. I've been doing it just over 2 months.

The wedding (I'm a bridesmaid) is three weeks away and I' m so glad I'll fit in the dress and feel a little better standing up there next to the bride :)

You Go Girl!  This is my 3rd week on NS.  I lost 10 lbs in the first 5 days and then I didn't lose anything in the next 8 days (I went up and down 1-2 lbs but it settleled at the weight loss of 10 lbs).  This was very frustrating to me...so as usual...I discontinued the diet on Saturday (and Sunday) and resorted back to my old habits.  On Monday, I got back on track.  I also tried on some of my old clothes and was very surprised b/c I am now able to wear many of these outfits.  I wish that I would have tried them on prior to"messing up" over the weekend because it would have been very encouraging.  Reading this blog is also encouraging.  Keep up the good work!

p.s.  Can you have tomatoes on this program?

I know about that period thing when it's time for weigh in, lmao!  For some strange reason, after 6 mos. of not having one, Mother Nature decided to grace me with her charm again the week after I started NS again....and has at weigh-in time the month after as well!!!  If only I could get to my one year mark, I'd be officially done w/menopause!!  But, after all, I didn't stop by to chat about that...SO!  My #1 thing is not to be a scale-aholic like in times past.  I don't know how often you weigh in, but so far I have personally found it better to do it once a month.  That way I'm not getting all about the pounds lost but focusing more on the health aspect of losing weight...then I'm really pleasantly surprised when I do get on the scale.  I think you are doing an awesome job!  I know plateaus stink but just keep up the good work and suddenly you'll find a pile of weight just dropped off.  For some reason I guess our bodies likes to "save it up" & drop it at once sometimes. I just know you will get there!!  You have a lot of people rooting for you!

At my highest, I was 222.  I had lost about 16 pounds before going back on NS in September.  So now I'm at 161, only 11 pounds from my goal.  It's fantastic to get back into clothes again.  It's like shopping for free in your own closet.  So, even though it's slowed down for the weight loss, I'm also able to eat real food and not worry about gaining too.  So stick with it!

Hello there,

It looks like I'm the only man on this blog but your picture of the red bear caught my eye.  I had gained about 95 lbs over the years and I've never been overweight before.  Needless to say I kept that weight on for 6 years and I felt pretty uncomfortable.  Since I needed to lose 95 lbs it just kept feeling like it would be too difficult to do....then I saw the nutrisystem commercial in October.  Well anyway I remember getting my 10lb bear and thinking to do this one week at a time.  It's been six months for me now and I've had an entire month at a plateau in the month of February but I pushed through it and I am now 54 lbs lighter!  Don't let those times get you down!!!  I started taking kickboxing and step classes (and yes I'm a straight man) at LA fitness and it has really been great for my weight loss (basket ball was killing my knees)!  Anyway keep up the good work.

One thing I forgot to mention.....I know worrying about shopping is supposed to be a woman's issue but shopping in the BIG AND TALL store for the past six years was about as fun as a root canal without the anesthesia.  I swear those stores think that big men must be drawn to bright colors and strips!!! I can not weight to start shopping in Macy's again!!!!!  I feel your pain :-)

Congratulations to all on your hard work = weight loss.  I have been overweight for the past 4 years.  After 2 neck surgeries I became very inactive but continued to eat as if I were an athlete.  Needless to say, inactivity and calorie loading don’t equate well.  35 pounds later, here I am.  I too had tried many programs.  WW is good but, who can take time out of a busy day to do so much food preparing?   I love being able to eat within a few minutes of getting home from work as this was always my dangerous time of the day.  While preparing my family’s supper, I could “wolf down” half a bag of chips.  I think my hunger drive got the best of me; smelling the food cooking just heightened it.  I must admit, that my cooking is better that NS but is definitely not low-cal.  Today I start my 2nd week and have lost 6.5 pounds!  I have never had such a positive response to any diet!  I always blamed my under active thyroid (we all need a scapegoat, now & then), LOL!  I am feeling as if this will be the time that I actually succeed!

I absolutely love Bluesbaby 1029’s comment:  “Nothing tastes as good as thinner feels.”  I will remember that when I have reached a plateau and am tempted to cheat.  You are all such an inspiration!

Congrats, I love that "oneunderland".  Though I am sick as a dog this week with the flu, I am down to 206 (I've been on the program faithfully since Feb 10th, starting at 234)).  I turned 50 April 9th and everyone is bragging on me for looking better everyday.  A woman who works with my daughter said she thought I was her sister!  I'm sold on this program and "Soon-To-Be.." I'm right with you girl on the clothes buying trip, but may I suggest you go to Goodwill or some thrift store and just buy a pair of smaller jeans, they will make you feel less flabby.  And if the size is the same, just a different cut, no one would know if they are fitted.  We ALL know the difference in regular size and WOMAN's size clothings and the difference in fitted and elastized.  Good luck to you all and let's all get out there and get summersized!

PS  55deb I suggest the individual drink mixes, Great Value Fruit Punch, they are cheap $1.88 at Walmart for 10 and they work in a huge water, no calories, no carbs and sweet enough to make the water go down.
