I decided to try something a little different last night and check out the chat rooms. I’ve been there before, but not for any extended period of time. As of late, my blogs haven’t been up to par and haven’t had as much heart as I like. I thought I might be inspired from the chat room, trying to get a pulse on the community.
Needless to say, it was different. My experience wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad either. It’s extremely fast paced, dominated by women and felt a little “clicky” to me. I was received with open arms by a few and made to feel out of place by a couple of others. I guess there are unwritten rules not to mention certain topics or asking “senior” member’s questions. I guess it’s going to take a little more time to get used to it or even try different times of days. Overall, I thought it was interesting to hear some other points of views and just sit idle reading conversations between the groups. For the accepted ones, it was a great place, almost like Cheers. When certain people would log on, the whole group would welcome them and it seemed like the topics would be dictated by them. Pretty cool I thought.
I guess my forte is blogging. I can express myself and thoughts in a more concise manner that conveys my message to a broader audience. Please don’t think I’m bagging on the chat rooms, I liked it. I just wanted to share my experience with the rest of you. There are many tools and ways to gain support as you travel along the path of weight loss. The main point is to get involved, join the chat room, write a blog, maybe hit the boards for a discussion. Doing it alone what get you very far, support and comradery goes a long way!
