Betty Crocker Complete Desserts Triple Chocolate Hot Fudge Cake.

The burdens of a pre nutrisystem mind. As some of you know Eric and I are at home today and he is like me a sweet tooth junkie. A couple of days before my restart I bought both a yellow cake mix with milk chocolate icing to go on top and a Betty Crocker Complete Desserts (now get this) Triple Chocolate Hot Fudge Cake with real Hershey’s fudge and drizzling topping. So I made the cake the day I bought it. Yes it was Nov. 11th and Eddie said what’s the cake for and I told him it was for the anniversary of Veterans’ Day. Since our anniversary isn’t until the 22nd. What happened was everyone was getting some kind of coffee and cake at work and I wanted a piece of chocolate cake. They came back without my chocolate cake, so I said I was going home to make one which I did. LOL The Hot Fudge Cake looked like the cake at the Red Lobster, for those of you that know that cake. It’s to die for. Eric is sick at home so I decide to make the yummy chocolaty hot fudge cake. OMG it looks just like on the box when it’s cooked! Now I thought I would have a piece with Eric and I read the box to see the calories involved in a piece. !!!!! For one they say it has 6 pieces! The calories in one piece is 440, so right away I’m thinking one half a piece in place of my NS dessert or maybe a bite. Calories 440, fat 13g, cholesterol 5mg, sodium 550mg (A little high), but listen to this. Carbs, 78g, and sugar 53g.! Well we knew those would be high, but that is really high. I cut 12 pieces in the pan and that way 220 cals. Is like a real serving and one I can feel good about. So yes I had that half a piece and man was it rich and chocolate yummy. Eric ate two halves which makes me feel good that he had 440 calories instead of the 880 he would have had. No more dessert for me today. I hope I don’t regret it in the morning.

OMG!!! This is agony...I love chocolate cake. I don't know how you did this....I would just not even start out on this path and would have thrown out the cake mix. You are a brave woman...it's funny to hear how we "agonize" over our decisions and try to rationalize how we can manipulate these foods in our meal plan. It's insanity!!! (which is the premise for Overeater's Anonymous) - we are no longer logical when it comes to our food...but you did good. I would have eaten the whole piece - or maybe even 1/2 the cake!!! I am a food addict. Oh well....I say we make choices and we do what we do - and just remember a lapse is not a relapse. Get back on program and you will be fine! Norma
