Renewed zest for NS!

As a veteran Nutrisystem member (8+ months) and a proud, card carrying member of the 50+ pounds lost club (ok, maybe there's not a club - or a card - but if there were I'd have one), I can say with absolute certainty that eating the same food all the time gets REALLY old.  For about the past month I have been experimenting with alternate choices for NS foods and have been successful.  My weight loss has continued slowly, but I have adapted my "sight" to identify real foods that fit in the NS parameters.  In addition, I have become strong in knowing how much exercise is warranted to offset caloric variances (in English?  Sure - how many walking miles it takes to work off the popsicle).

However, in the last day or two, I have found renewed energy for the total NS program.  I am re-embracing the foods, eating exactly on schedule, changing up fruits and vegetables, increasing the water (again!), and I can feel my body shifting into losing mode again.

Truthfully, I don't mind the plateau.  Not because I don't get frustrated, but because I have lived in this skin for many moons and I know that my body readjusts each time it sheds weight.  It may go a week or a month (or two) at the same weight, but that subtle changes - things like fat reducing it's cottage cheese appearance or a curve reemerging or a clavicle showing through.  I notice these things and know that my body is just moving the fat around to a place where I can work and portion control it off.  My body is wise.

So, now, I will embrace my renewed interest in NS and, hopefully, see some terrific results.  I am eager for some change.

Peace and joy ~ Shannon

Good for you. I like your story. You have such good strong communication skills that your posts just STAND RIGHT OUT and inform, entertain, inspire, and motivate me (and I'm sure most everyone else!), and I just can't wait to read whatever you post.

I'm so thrilled with the program and also with this BLOG. I feel like my whole relationship with weight has been able to relax and shift into a much more open, "normal" type of regular thing to deal with just like anything else in life!

I totally relate to the slow-losing phenomena like remembering I actually have a collarbone & a waist!!!

I agree with you 100%. I have stalled out a lot but that is ok. When my body decides to lose I can feel it like you. I like noticing the little subtle changes it makes too. Great post. I hope it helps some of those who want the insant fix to realise there isn't one! Hugs Cherry

Good for you Shannon, I too am back with a vengence. But I have to lose 20 pounds again, like it wasn't hard enough the first time last fall. Money will never (should I say never?) stand between me & NS again!!! Liz

You know...the clavical is under-appreciated...I just caught sight of mine the other day, and I have to say it felt good to welcome the little sucker back into my life.

You bring home so elequently that no change is going to happen over night and we mustn't become discouraged when our bodies take the time they need to "settle in".

Oh, and YES there is a "50 pounds lost" card - you'll be getting it shortly!

Loads of love to you....you're the bestest!!

Is it not amazing how good we feel when we go back 100% on NS. I know why, but I am always pleased and proud when I'm back on the program and have all this excess energy.

Well,if you and Tobe get that 50lb card, then Husbo and Chester will get two. LOL but I'll give on of them away as long as I don't have to gain that weight back.

Chester, Big Bear City Mountain Man?

I love the hidden body parts. How long ago was it when you first realized you had pelvic bones? Didn't it scare you when you first found them? "Oh my goodness, what the HELL is that LUMP!? Do I have a roll of quarters in my pocket?"

Now I find that when I scrub my face in the shower I get cheapy thrills because I feel my jawline and cheeks, and they're not only visible, but actually shape my face now instead of just supporting my many chins :o)

Oh, darlin, please give me some of what you're having...When I looked at my same ol' dinner choices tonight, I got very frustrated. Your optimism in spite of it all is helpful. Thanks.
How the hell are you drinking more water? Weren't you already at the gallon jug stage? Frankly, you amaze me! Kudos!

Great post, Shannon. I have those huge stalls as well -- I'll have to be better about paying attention to the subtle changes.
