Are you paying attention to your hair?

Although to the outside world I seem to have good hair, in my family I got the short stick.  My mom was Greek and Norwegian, so she had thick, wavy auburn hair.  My grandfather had a head of hair a young man would envy and my grandmother had a bright red thick mane.  SonBo got ALL the good hair genes and has to have his hair thinned.  Enter me with fine, dark, partially wavy/partially straight hair...can't use anything 'cause it can't take the weight.

Before I started NS I had some pretty drastic emotional tragedies and a physical illness that caused me to lose my hair in handfuls.  At one point you could actually see my entire scalp through my hair when I stood in the sun.  Kind of a bad look for me, I must say.  I weathered it by not being too vain and wearing my strands in a pony tail for most of a year.  Somewhere in there I started NS.  My hair started it's regrowth phase and got really kinky curly at the ends causing what I like to call a mushroom cloud effect on my head.  No amount of product or brushing would tame it.  But I did notice that most of it grew in dark instead of grey and the best part was having darkness at the scalp again.

So, now, down 55 pounds, I have decent hair which was cut perfectly by my AWESOME hairdresser last night, but the texture is very different now.  I don't know if that is due to the change in diet or just the process of regrowing hair from scratch.  Hus-Bo has noticed that his hair is thinner and I think that is due to his extremely rapid weight loss (104.5 pounds in 6.5 months)...hopefully, it will thicken once he stabilizes.  Apparently, rapid weight loss can have an effect on hair growth because your body views it as traumatic.  Weird.

So, has anyone else noticed the hair thing?  Quite frankly, with our new hot bods, who's looking?  LOL!

Peace and joy ~ Shannon

What I can't get with is Dr. Oz telling people NOT to shampoo their hair everyday. If I don't shampoo my hair my head itches. How does that work?

I have fine blonde hair and all of a sudden I've had to start using conditioner because it's starting to frizz! NEVER have I been able to use conditioner! I guess we're all getting some mixed blessings from NS. I'm lovin' it! Please post a photo with the new do! dj

I've noticed that the hair on my HEAD has been growing faster, and the hair on my arms and legs is practically nonexsistent! Go Figure....I guess gone from one area pushed to another. Hey only having to tweeze my legs instead of shaving isn't such a bad deal, though.

I still can't get over HusBo and his 104.5 pounds in 6.5 months....Holy Cow!!!

My hair has seemed to become thicker and "silkier". I have always had thick but almost baby-fine hair...and it seems to be growing extra-fast after 10+ weeks on NS. I too have problems with the ends getting "fuzzy", but usually just when it is nearing time for my every-6-week haircut....heat styling damage, I'm pretty sure.

My nails are now amazing, and I could NEVER grow them in the past MY ENTIRE LIFE. They are medium-length and WHITE and look lovely! EVEN MY TOENAILS ARE WHITER! Who woulda thought?

I WISH the hair on my legs would QUIT growing, but that is doing just fine, thank you very much!

Darn, Husbo passed me. Hmmmm, never thought about the hair. I have always had a "FULL" head of hair and even at 70, I still have to get haircuts every 3 weeks. I don't think that I have lost any hair bacause of the NS program.

Cheers,

Chester

After regrowing hair, it can and usually does come in different. High protein diet usually helps it. No changes in my hair. Already have enough for three and it is always curly.
