Yesterday I burned 1,111 calories gardening...

So, what does that mean to me today?  Nothing.  That's right.  Nothing.  Because those calories were burned yesterday, on yesterday's fuel.  I start today at zero calories burned from exercise.  Every single day I start from scratch.  Luckily, I still have gardening to do.  Maybe another thousand calories' worth, too.  But tomorrow it's back to the gym because I can't just do nothing.

I knew all of this already.  I knew it from when I was a teenager first considering a reducing diet (before I was even heavy).  I knew the benefits of regular exercise when I started teaching aerobics at 17...when I didn't have a weight problem of any kind all through my 20s.  Before I became sedentary and lax in my exercise motivation and behavior.  I knew it when I taught Step and Pilates.  I knew it.  I just didn't do it.  Well, no more.  Now I know AND I do.

Hope we are all learning this once and for all.  Don't you?

Peace and joy ~ Shannon

I have found that to be for myself also. If I dont want to gain back all the weight that I worked so hard to get rid of, I must exercise. There is a machine called the Wave that really kicks by booty, but I love it. Most people are afraid of it, but it gives you a good workout and makes you sweat like nobodies business. Its gives you that good feeling when you get a nice workout in for the day.

Ah, I feel this all the time, "because I can't just do nothing." Especially when the weather is nice out here (all 2.6 months of it!!!) ... I love days where I burn 1200 cal's (today will be one)... makes me feel like I didn't waste the day, but embraced it by doing. To me, that's living.

That reminds me - I gotta log my activity for today! ;0) Congrat's on embracing the day!

It's funny, this is the reason why I always wanted to slap the sh*t out of people prior to NS when they would "suggest" dieting tips to me; PLEASE stop handing me tips, I KNOW the routine, I am a PROFESSIONAL DIETER!

I just hadn't been practicing my profession :o)

Exercise is definitely the key for me! I have lost weight many times and exercised while losing and then for some DUMB reason I stop exercising and the weight comes right back on - DUH! I think maybe this brain FINALLY has it figured out! Thanks for the insight and have a great 4th of July! Keep up the great work and I love your postings - you are an inspiration!

Hey friend, I have it from a reliable source that you will be doing some swimming which is both relaxing and a good workout. Think of me as you are floating around, splashing in that water. Happy 4th!!

The things that come out of that garden are going to taste oh so much better, knowing you burned off some fat, to eat more healthy.

Happy, healthier eating! Who knew fat burning could be so much fun? LOL
