A nice little weekend BBQ with close friends...

Howdy, folks.  This past weekend was busy!  We had relatives in town and our family picnic followed by a movie and salads out (and a really long walkie.)  Then Sunday dawned early to take SonBo off to scout camp (I miss him!) and when I came back - having had less than 5 hours sleep - I thought I would go back to bed, but instead I started ripping up the carpet in my son's room.  He now wants hardwood floors and that will be nicer for him.  The floors are beautiful under the rug and maybe this change will help him get a little more organized for senior year, you think?

As well as carpet demolition (phase two is today), I cleaned the house, did laundry, and prepped food for dinner with our friends.  Our temperamental refrigerator (which is new for a fridge, but has issues) decided to not cool as well as it could, so we decided to invite everyone over and start cooking before anything had a chance to spoil.  Now, this in itself is a sweet victory, because our freezer is filled with chicken, fish, salmon burgers, etc.  It's just a healthful feast waiting to happen.  So we grilled the chicken and some corn (yes, I know - it's a starch) and made a huge salad...sounds like an NS meal, right?  Yeah.  That's how we roll.  The only poor choice was the killer cobbler I made from nectarines, apricots, blackberries, strawberries, and fresh cherries.  It was fantastic.  300 calories per serving, but I did it without guilt.  A gallon of water ensured that nothing stuck.  We then played our new, improved version of Catch Phrase.  Fun night.

This morning I stayed in bed reading.  I just needed a break, you know?  I won't go for a run or to the gym today - I'll resume ripping out carpet and see what else I can get done around here.  I just want to get my house in order.  That makes a difference in everything and mine has been in disarray too long.

Hope all of you have a fantastic, productive day!

Peace and joy ~ Shannon

I hear you about getting everything in order. I cleaned ALL weekend too. Organizing, throwing out...pulling up carpet.
That's great that you HAVE good floors under your carpet!!! Half the battle.
I feel like a clean and organized home helps keep a clear mind!
Keep going!!! You're on a roll!

Oh, you're inspirational! You need to log all your hard work in the exercise area of the website. That counts too you know!

I think ripping up carpet should be logged in under aerobic activity in the exercise log section. Anybody who has ever done it would agree!! Glad you had a fun and productive weekend!

What a cool Mom you are!! Is this a surprise for Collier? I love hardwood floors as you can tell by being in my house. Although, I wouldn't mind some area rugs but I had to get rid of all of them cause my dog Brewster was starting to mark all over each and every one. Bummer! Your weekend sounds wonderful! I am happy to hear you are taking some time off just to relax! You deserve it -- you are always so on the go.

Having a day (or three) where you don't "officially" exercize will never do you any harm, I've discovered. Last week I absolutely HAD to make time fvor certain things, so between Monday and saturday I worked out only twice. However, with keeping my eating on plan, I actually lost just as steadily as if I had worked out and eaten a little more to compensate for the extra calories.

Not a bad trade, either, spending time getting "chit" in order; these things actually stress us out a tad and whe they're done.....ahhhh, bout time!!!

OMG you had me at cobbler...Yeah, Baby!
What kinda wood did you find under that carpet? Sounds like SonBo has awesome taste. Gotta love hardwood! I'm glad you took a break from all that work, too. Whew!

Did you save any BBQ chicken for us? LOL Did you baste your chicken with Sweet Baby Rays? Great sauce.

I had guilt-free Penne A La Vodka at an Italian restaurant with my wife and daughter, and I feel no guilt whatsoever. My body may feel it, but I don't. LOL That's how I spent my father's day. Did I mention the glass of chardonnay? Ooops. Ok, maybe a little guilt.

Today was a fantastic day for me, us. We had a closing on our house and refinanced the mortgage. Lowered it from 5.75% to 4.375%! Most days, I have a legal Nutrisystem day, but today was also one of those days.

I am aiming to lose 10 pounds before I go west to Cleveland in July and meet up with some NS friends.

Hope the rest of your week is a rug tearing event!LOL
