Eight months, 53.5 pounds gone. What this means:

I started NS eight months ago on October 17, 2008.  I have lost 53.5 pounds to date and expect to lose another 30 or so.  Here's what losing 53.5 pounds means to me in REAL LIFE VALUE:

  • The ability to move easily.
  • The ability to fit into smaller clothes - and pack fewer suitcases when I travel!
  • New, amazing friends I will have long after this journey is completed.
  • Renewed interest in toning my muscles.
  • I stopped using my son to fetch things for my lazy self.
  • I want to take the dog for his walks - and they are long!
  • I enjoy wearing color again.
  • I make healthy grocery and restaurant choices all the time.
  • I don't feel fat everywhere I go.
  • Although I didn't have health issues, I feel confident that I am even healthier now...and I want to stay that way.
  • My husband got on board and became a stellar example of successful weight loss and fitness...and I don't hate him!
  • I feel confident I can make it to goal - even though at 6.6 pounds per month it may take another 5-6 months.  I am OK with that.

If you are new to NS, KNOW that following this program will make you successful.  If you've been at it a long time like me, know that sticking with it is going to change your future and just keep pluggin' away.

This is just fantastic and I am glad we have it in common!

Peace and joy ~ Shannon

Ahhh, now THERE'S one thing I enjoy now that I didn't before, and I've already gotten used to it enough that I forgot until you mentioned it...
...COLORS!! Yes, no more wardrobe of blue, black, brown and hunter green, or any other variation on "almost black with a touch of color thrown in".

Know what else I wear now that I couldn't...or WOULDN'T, wear before NS? SHORT SLEEVES!! I am no longer ashamed of my "retired linebacker" arms, because they no longer exist :o)

I love your list and I can relate to most of it. The exceptions are that I used to send my daughter to run and fetch for me. My husband has been on board with my weight loss and very helpful taking care of himself and encouraging me, but he has always been way thin. (I do hate him sometimes for that, LOL!) Now, white is my new black. It's been so long since I've felt comfortable wearing white but I love it now against my soon to be tanned skin.

I am so glad to be part of you network of friends.

Rose

You are so kind to point all that out. Sometimes, we tend to get into ruts when the weight doesn't keep coming off and it is good to remember the wonderful things that we have accomplished since we started.
