What just happened to me? (An early a.m. workout story...)

My son had to be at the ACT testing site at 7:45 this morning.  That means I was up before 7 to get him going and awake enough to do well on this exam.  Anyway, he had to be there at 7:45.  So, what would YOU do if you were already up, dressed and awake enough to drive on Saturday at 7:45?  Well, in the old days, I would have driven back home and climbed into bed to grab a few more snuggly sleep hours with Hus-Bo. What do you think happened today?

Well, I had planned to take the spin class at 9 with my friend, but she was at the ER all night with her dad.  She's kind of in the place I was about 18 months ago.  So, she bailed by email.  There was my "out."  But I'm not that girl these days.  I just modified my plans slightly.  Instead of going to the spin class that would make me wait an hour, I decided to do an upper body and abs workout and then get in a few miles on the treadmill.  One hour later, drenched in sweat, I emerged from the gym feeling pretty proud of myself!  I got home by 9:15 and have caught up on email.  I'm going to settle in with some work, coffee, a snuggly bulldog and a subtitled French flick for the remainder of the morning.  I'll walk the dog around noon and pick up SonBo at 1.  This afternoon we may go to the Juneteenth festival down the road.

I would like to announce to the world that I love the GRAVITRON.  I have NEVER been able to do a pull-up on my own and this machine is going to make me strong enough to do it.  Just one.  That's my goal.  I am currently woking with about 30 pounds of resistance.  It's seriously difficult.  I am SO upper-body-strength challenged!

Hope you all have a fanfreakintastic day!

Peace and joy ~ Shannon

I'm with you on the upper body strength, I was NEVER a puller-upper!! In fact, in grade school we had health assessment testing, and while the guys had pull-ups (or chin-ups as we called them), the girls had the inverted hang, which was basically holding onto one pullup as long as you could hold it. I did "ok", back then, but now....heck, feggidabawdit!

Good for you for making the best of an early day! I do the same when I'm up earlier than I had planned, because then I have MORE DAY to enjoy because I can check "sweated my booty off" from my to-do list :o)

I love the Gravitron! That machine is awesome! Even though we're using resistance to assist us, doesn't it make you feel so powerful?! I'm like you, I have never been able to pull myself up - no matter what my age, weight, or fitness level.
My husband and I are doing the P90X workout which involves a pull-up bar for those who can (my husband, for one). I can't do that and have to use resistance bands instead. On more than one occasion, he's said "just see if you can do one". I've tried and failed each time. Funny thing is, I told him the other day that I need some Gravitron assistance! Ha!
Good job on the morning workout! You go, girl!
