HunBo's blog
And today's winning exercise is...

GUTTER CLEANING!  HusBo is cleaning out the rain gutters on our house and I have been nominated to be his assistant.  The thing is that I will then be sidetracked by bushes that need cutting, etc., and it will turn into some serious gardening.  You know what burns a TON of calories?  Yep.  Gardening!  Bring it on!

When you guys are done, maybe we can have a hedge-cutting party at my house, eh? Sounds like fun, doesn't it? I'll make a nice salad :o)

Hubby and I will, Lord willing, have a WONDERFUL little project to do in the next few months or six....it's called "packing up and moving"...IF we find a nice house, that is :o)

You know what else burns some serious calories? Shoveling! I'm afraid that will be here soon. Here's a stupid question, with warm weather all year long, do you plant a vegetable garden twice a year? And how long do your annual plants last? Our gardening season is so short. Annuals aren't even worth buying because they aren't around long enough. I just cut back all of my plants and we're taking out the garden lights, pond lights, etc...
I need to move to a warmer climate!

Living in the Desert has it's advantages. No rain...no gutters....no hedges....only tile and pavers in yard., with rock and cactus.. but then Tom does work all the time doing what ever he does to keep those darn Cactus's being a Cactus.

Kind of off track but...Tammy, I live in the desert too but in Arizona-- not the same one as Chester. It would be more sensible to stick with the cactus but being originally from the East Coast I gotta have my annuals. I plant them three times a year in raised beds--Fall, Spring and Summer. It doesn't get dull because they're different varieties depending on when. Only the ruggedest of the rugged survive in the summer when temps get over 110. And once in a blue moon there will be a frost overnight in the winter that I'm not expecting. I'm not lucky with vegetables but I have friends who plant them about now in raised beds with plenty of shade. Happy gardening/ yard work/slave labor everyone.
